Sonar Web > Analytics > Dashboards > My Dashboard
In Sonar Web Analytics, users can create fully customizable dashboards using their data. These dashboards leverage Power BI to provide robust analytics capabilities. When you open the My Dashboard screen for the first time, it comes pre-loaded with a Default View containing sample charts and filters.
This guide covers the following sections:
Creating, Editing, and Saving Dashboards
Filtering Charts and Dashboards
Creating, Editing, and Saving Dashboards
Users can create multiple dashboards, each with its own set of unique visuals. For example, you might create separate dashboards for "All Active Flocks," "Flocks Sold in the Past 7 Days," or sensor-specific dashboards like water or bird weight data. All dashboards are private by default and won’t be visible to others unless you choose to share them.
Creating a Dashboard
To create a new dashboard:
- Navigate to the My Dashboards tab.
- Click the New Dashboard button.
- Enter a name for your dashboard and click Create.
- A blank dashboard will appear where you can start adding charts.
Editing and Saving a Dashboard
To edit an existing dashboard:
- Navigate to the My Dashboards tab.
- Double-click the dashboard you want to edit.
- Make any necessary changes to visuals and filters.
- Once you've made your updates, click Save Changes to apply them.
- To delete a dashboard, select it from the list and click the Delete button. This action will permanently remove the dashboard.
Creating and Editing Charts
Creating Charts
You can add any type of chart to analyze your Sonar data. To add a new chart:
- Click the + NEW CHART button in the top right corner.
- A customization screen will appear where you can configure the chart’s options.
- The screen will generate a preview using unfiltered Sonar data, giving you an idea of how the chart will look when added to your view.
Editing Charts
To modify an existing chart:
- Hover over the chart and click on the three dots.
- Select Change visual to bring up the customization screen for editing.
- After making your changes, be sure to click Save View to retain your updates.
Filtering Charts and Dashboards
The filters pane allows you to drill down into your visuals for deeper insights. By default, the Default View includes three preset filters:
- Farm Type is BRIM: Filters data to display only broiler growout farms. You can adjust this to view other farm types, such as breeder or turkey growout farms.
- Flock Status is Active: Displays data for currently active flocks only.
- Granularity is Flock: Summarizes the data at the farm-flock level, instead of by individual house.
You can modify these filters at any time to suit your needs.
- To filter the entire dashboard, use the Filters on this page section in the filter pane.
- To filter a specific chart, click on the chart and adjust the Filters on this visual section in the filter pane.
When creating your own dashboards, use the filters pane to refine your data analysis and gain deeper insights.
Power BI Tips and Tricks
- Legend Selections: Clicking an item in the legend (e.g., selecting a specific farm) will filter all other visuals on the page to reflect that selection. Click the same item again to deselect it from all visuals.
- Lasso Tool: Click and drag on a visual to activate the lasso tool, which allows you to select multiple points on a graph. The selected range will automatically filter the other charts on the page.
- Exclude Outliers: If a chart has a large outlier skewing the data, right-click the point and select Exclude to remove it.
- Focus Mode: Hover over any visual and click the Focus button to view it in full screen.
- View as Table: Right-click any visual and select View as table to display the underlying data in table format.
